Project Sea Horse, established in 1996, is an organisation
that is devoted to finding and supporting solutions
to marine conservation problems. Seahorses are threatened
by a combination of habitat loss, over fishing, invasive
species and climate change. Saving seahorses means ensuring
the future of these delicate fish and their marine environment.
Therefore "Project Sea Horse" is committed
to stopping the gradual disappearance of these highly
charismatic creatures found in the oceans of the world.
The Original Guylian Chocolate Sea Shells were inspired
by the love for the sea and its wonderful creatures.
In 1999 Guylian committed more than $Au1million over
5 years to support “Project Sea Horse” to
conduct fundamental research all over the world.
Guylian’s commitment to Project Seahorse goes
beyond its significant financial support. Guylian will
continue to work with Project Seahorse to raise public
awareness about the precarious state of seahorse populations
in Australia and around the world. In printing alerts
about the threats to seahorses on every Guylian Seashell
Chocolate box, Guylian aims to make Australians aware
of the serious marine conservation issues affecting
seahorses.
